Pres spox says Russian econ situation tough due to pandemic

MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- The pandemic has become an unprecedented challenge for the Russian economy, which is in a difficult situation, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

"It is hard to tell because we have faced quite an unpreceded challenge, I mean the pandemic, which, besides a threat to people's health, the key threat, also causes inevitable fallout for the global economy and each country faces consequences for the national economy. These difficulties have not escaped us unfortunately so there is additional burden," Peskov said.

He added that effective minimization of the negative outcome for the economy will depend on the efforts of the government and the president.
